idle observations
Posted in: General
Overheard recently on a Footscray street:
“Well, they can stick their crappy house right up their Kaniva pass” (man – bad temperedly – into mobile phone whilst gesticulating wildly.)
Where? (and how???)
Which is completely unrelated to the notable postmark on mail I received from the UK:
Happy birthday Dr Who!
Kaniva is a small town in far western Victoria
beyond Dimboola. Noted for its grain silo and
(once) for its hexagonal signalbox. It’s a
nice place noted for neither passes or bad
tempered men yelling into mobile phones.
Perhaps your gesticulating friend meant

The Cullen clan extends its web of interconnections across to Kaniva – so I was aware both of its geographic location AND its grain silo. The signal box is new information – so thank you.
