doorknobs
Posted in: General
I have just spent 25 minutes of my life going through a catalogue of doorknobs. Gold ones, silver ones, brass ones, copper ones, wrought iron ones …
Electo-plated, satin chrome, matt, polished … it’s endless.
I had no idea.
And I’m still not sure what I want.
Sometimes there’s a tyranny of choice.
Yes. All very tragic. But the point of that 25 mins was to choose one (or at least a general style of one) so that your long suffering housemate can go out on a 41 degree day and buy some “door hardware” so that we can at last have living room doors. And, just in case you were wondering, “not gold” does not consitute a choice.

February 13th, 2004 at 3:21 pmSo what did you pick? Or did you abrogate the choice to the heat-braving housemate? (Justine, I think you’re equal parts brave & foolhardy to have persevered with the doorknob-buying yesterday; I’d have decided quite early that it could all wait another week 🙂
February 15th, 2004 at 8:09 amDoor “furniture” successfully purchased.
* Door plate and handle, brass (therefore both gold and shiny – minds obviously changed) – check
* Door latch mechanism – check
* Hinges (100mm), brass x 4 – check
* Bolts (150mm), brass x 2 – check
Now just awaiting the actual doors to arrive and be installed. Mission “Improve Justine and Marita’s living room experience” will then be complete.

February 16th, 2004 at 5:10 pmOhh.. what about… NO KNOBS! A hole in the doors. There’s no locking yourself in the toilet when you have nothing to begin with.
