someone else’s day
Posted in: General
My boss: “We were going to go to Castlemaine on Monday”.
Me: “We went to Castlemaine on Monday!
My boss: “We were going to have lunch at Saff’s cafe there.”
Me: “That’s where we had lunch!”
My boss: “Rod was feeling a bit down, we were going to have the fat chips.”
Me: “That’s what I had!”
I had someone else’s day!
Spooky!
PS. If you pronounce ‘h’ as ‘h’ as in ‘hat’ + ‘ai’ as in ‘pain’ + ‘ch’ as in ‘chew’, do you say ‘Castlemaine’ with an ‘a’ as in ‘apple’ or an ‘a’ as in ‘ask’?
Aitch and C-ahh-stlemaine, as you know 🙂 Must be the influence of my English mother.
January 29th, 2004 at 6:45 amAitch but Castle(“a” as in “apple”)maine because that’s how the locals seem to say it.
January 29th, 2004 at 2:51 pmCastlemaine is ‘a’ as in apple, but castle is ‘a’ as in ask… go figure? I must say Castlemaine with the apple ‘a’ because that is what everyone else says… As you know Marita, I also say ‘orf’ not ‘off’. Blame it on the influence of my English grandmother.
January 30th, 2004 at 2:18 pm‘a’ as in ‘ask’, but ‘aitch’ not ‘haitch’. 🙂
February 1st, 2004 at 6:24 pmCastlemaine should be pronounced Castlemaine. I can really see no other options given all the letters
